A divine amalgam : Caramel and chocolate

Salted caramel and chocolate cake

Chocolate cakes have been one of my favorite desserts since my childhood. On occasions like birthdays, anniversaries etc. Cakes were an important meal of that event. Through all these years the most common cake flavors I went through were chocolate,pineapple and Black Forest.


With time these short, optional cakes turned into multi optional cake flavors. Chocolate turned into German chocolate and chocolate truffle. Generally German chocolate and hazelnut chocolate are same flavors. Chocolate truffle includes more creamy textured chocolate cake. People love to experiment with flavors, specially in desserts. My personal favorite experiment in a dessert cake is chocolate and caramel. Chocolate With its dark complexion and caramel, with its shiny and gooey texture, compliments each others flavors.



According to me, chocolate and caramel works so well with each other because when chocolate makes a dessert sweeet caramel balances it with a bit buttery flavor.This equation of sweet and savoury has always puzzled a few minds but for the foodie ones like me its a dish made in heaven.
Me and my sister in law loves to try new cake flavors on behalf of ordering for others.By this method we were potraying love towards our family and our fetish towards cakes.

The look


A day she randomly showed me the new menu from our favorite bakery which introduced cheesecakes and many new cake flavors.At first instance I went for blueberry cheesecake but my sister in law told me that everyone in our family doesnt have the palate for blueberry cheesecake since blueberries are tart in taste and cream cheese is a bit sour for some people to adapt its taste.Next our eyes went to the salted caramel chocolate cake,looking in each other’s eyes with a smile on our faces we decided to get this cake on an occassion.

Finally, the day arrived and I was actually surprised by my family by getting me the caramel chocolate cake.That very evening we had a feast with the whole family and after the main course was done it was time for our cake to honour us with its taste.


The cake was an artpiece in itself,the simplicity of chocolate was honoured with a crown caramel with flaky salt and caramelized hazelnuts jewelled in it.Each layer of the cake had a perfect proportion of chocolate and caramel ganache with nuts in it.With a single bite from the cake slice we got all the componenants of the cake potrayed as over the cake and as far as the taste concerns it was mind-blowing!


If I ever went to heaven I would love to be welcomed at the gates of the heaven with the angels holding this beautiful cake for me,even if the angels be busy i have no issue since it is pretty understandable but the important thing is to welcome me with this cake at the gates of heaven.
