Start of a month, one expects it as a time of change when we must go for the good and improve ourselves but when times are lousy, change is not an easy job to pursue.
In July 2022, I cleared my entrance exam, was back from a week trip, and only wanted the time left with me at home should be happy and memorable(with awesome food obviously). August 1st, I got up with a wake of hope for change and it was exactly what happened, after 10 years there was a blackout from midnight till morning when I woke up.
I thought it might be a simple short circuit fault that might get solved in a few hours, but those few hours turned into a day and now there was no electricity at all in our house. We complained to the electricity board about installing a new transformer for our area since the workers they sent last night fixed the old transformer and went to blast just after 3 minutes of their leaving.

Now the major issue was the area was jammed with vehicles during the day and the new transformer couldn’t come into our area until the way is vehicle free, so we waited till the night of Day 2. On Day 1, the workers managed to provide us electricity to sleep but early morning again by 7 am it went off just like an obedient 9 to 5 working officer. By this time we were tired of getting in and out of our comfort zones, I had not eaten any of my meals because I like to enjoy my food with some good company of people or my electronic buddies who were lying dead by this time due to the blackout we were suffering of. In short, I was just waiting and waiting for the electricity to come back and enlighten our lives back, but the workers were still loading the new transformer from the truck to its place which I saw several times going to their site to know what is the current position of our electricity.

Hallucinating in my own world I was lying on my couch with eyes stuck on the stopped ceiling fan to breeze me up with its fresh air when my sister-in-law asked me if I wanted to have some cake she made last night for a birthday party, which I denied to have since I was waiting for the light to come then I d have it with some nachos or chips, but I haven’t had lunch too so I went for the offer of the cake and sat on the dining table. As soon as the cake was kept on the plate to come on the table, the chandelier lightened…YES, IT’S HERE!!!!! The light was back with its shine and with this, I broke my blackout fast with a smooth bite of the crumbly biscuit base cake mixed and garnished with walnuts dark chocolate chips, and rainbow sprinkles.
The cake was delicious, superb and everything great something can be when some eat something after hours of wait! but the cake was worth the wait I bared, my patience was rewarded with its appropriate prize. It made a really memorable day for me with a twister start to the month.
